Greg’s Garden (May 5th, 2014)

First of all, we would like to apologize to our followers for the slight interruption to our bi-monthly newsletter. We had a family emergency and had to travel out of state for a short while. We hope to now be back onto our schedule of publishing this newsletter every 1st and 3rd Mondays from now through this coming fall harvest season.

How Does Our Garden Grow?
Well, on Feb. 7th we had this…

And now we have this…

When we started our garden this year, we knew we were starting over with the plot garden. Traditionally we had always had rows of garden or planted in large pots. This new gardening method has shown us that small plots can indeed produce large amounts of pro-duce with little weeding and the compact size of the 4 foot by 4 foot plots can be utilized anywhere. We currently have our lettuce plot providing daily salads to our table, in addition broccoli, cabbage, bok choi, carrots, parsnips, bell peppers, sunflowers, and onions are waiting to join the table soon. In our next issue we will turn to the large garden plot we have in addition to our new plot garden. In the large garden we are planting green beans, sweet corn, tomatoes, and cucumbers. We will also share some photos of our new addition of fruit and nut trees. See you on the 19th of May, and in the mean-time, may the weather be good!
