Scammers pulling off the Grandparent scam have found a new way to get their money. A Charlotte-area senior recently reported paying $26,000 to grandparent scammers using Apple iTunes gift cards, supposedly to bail a grandchild out of jail on DWI charges. At the scammer’s direction, the grandparent purchased 52 Apple iTunes gift cards over three days, each card loaded with $500. On Tuesday, May 5, 2015, members of the Henderson Police Department in conjunction with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation arrested two individuals in the Henderson community for possession of narcotics. Henderson Police Department Confiscates Illegal Synthetic Marijuana
On Friday, May 1, 2015, members of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Unit and the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement agency conducted an investigation into the illegal sales of synthetic marijuana. Officers culminated the investigation by serving a search warrant at Beyond Fantasy, 161 US Hwy 158, Henderson. As a result of the search, officers located a significant quantity of the controlled substance. The investigation into this matter is continuing and criminal charges are forthcoming.
