Welcome Centers Celebrate North Carolina Culture for Travel and Tourism Week

Commerce’s nine Welcome Centers celebrated National Travel and Tourism Week earlier this month by joining with local tourism partners to personally thank North Carolina visitors for traveling to the state. Vance County Schools Revised Dates for Bus Driver Training
The school bus driver training sessions provided by Vance County Schools have been rescheduled due to a conflict with the instructor’s calendar to Monday, June 27, through Thursday, June 30, at L.B. Yancey Elementary School. Interested persons must attend the training on each of the first three days to receive certification. We will only be training individuals to drive school buses. Students in Vance County Schools’ elementary and middle schools will be given N.C. end-of-grade tests Tuesday through Thursday of this week, with final exams for the school year administered at local high schools beginning on Friday. NCDA&CS conducts card-skimmer sweep in 12 counties
N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services inspectors recently conducted a month long sweep at gas stations across the state looking for credit card skimmers. Inspectors visited 972 stations in 12 counties and checked 8,567 dispensers. The inspectors found three skimming devices. The devices were found in Mecklenburg and Nash counties. Thieves can install credit card skimmers at the pump. When a customer swipes their card to pay, the skimmer copies the account data from the magnetic stripe on the …

Seniors at Northern Vance, Southern Vance and Western Vance high schools worked with their school counselors and representatives of Vance-Granville Community College to complete applications online for enrollment at the community college Tuesday, May 10-Thursday, May 12.
