A new Tuesday morning painting class will begin at Vance-Granville Community College’s Main Campus on April 25, with a new instructor: artist Stephen Filarsky of Franklinton. “Watercolor & Drawing” is scheduled for Tuesdays from 9:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., April 25 through July 18, in room 5223 (Building 5). Open to Rising 3rd through 8th Grade Students. This will be the first summer camp offered by Oxford Preparatory School. Be Careful When Burning Debris in Spring
The N.C. Forest Service is urging residents across the state to think safety and exercise caution during the spring fire season, which typically lasts from March to May. “During the spring fire season, people do a lot of yard work that often includes burning leaves and yard debris,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “There are many factors to consider before doing any burning.” North Carolinians thinking about burning debris should contact their county ranger for advice first, Troxler said. …

NCDOT Converting Intersection in Franklin County to All-Way Stop on Thursday
The intersection of Williams White Road and Pilot-Riley Road north of Zebulon in Franklin County is being switched to a permanent all-way stop intersection on Thursday, March 2, weather permitting. The current traffic pattern requires vehicles to stop on Williams White Road while traffic on Pilot-Riley Road does not have to stop.
