Newton sworn in as first VGCC Police Chief
Sean G. Newton took the oath of office on Oct. 28 as the first Chief of Police for the new campus police department at Vance-Granville Community College. Just in time for the holiday season, Vance-Granville Community College will offer a two-hour class that provides opportunities for crafting unique, personalized gifts. The “Hand-Stamped Jewelry” class is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. until noon on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County. Vance County Schools – Bus Driver Training Announcement
Vance County Schools is hosting bus driver training sessions November 18-20 in the Drama Room at Southern Vance High School. The sessions will begin each day at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. All interested persons are urged to pre-register for the training sessions by contacting the Vance County Schools’ Transportation Department at 438-5012. Participants must pre-register by November 1. To receive certification as a bus driver, participants must attend all three days of the training.

On October 20, 2013 members of the Henderson Police Department responded to 429 Chestnut Street Apartment A, Henderson in reference to a sexual assault of a 20 year-old female. Members of the Henderson Police Department Criminal Investigations Division were contacted to conduct the ongoing investigation. Upon further investigation, Abdalsalah Ahmed Mohamed Almuwallad, 30, of 429 Chestnut Street, Apartment A, Henderson was arrested and charged with second degree sexual assault.
