Eaton-Johnson Middle School Students Chosen for N.C. Honors Chorus
Two students at Eaton-Johnson Middle School have been selected to be a part of the 2014 North Carolina Middle School Honors Chorus. Robert and Jackson Hopper, who are brothers, auditioned with over 1,200 students and were two of only 171 students selected to be a part of the statewide chorus. Robert is a seventh grader at Eaton-Johnson and Jackson is in the sixth grade. Robert was ranked sixth out of 20 tenor I’s chosen for the chorus, while Jackson was …
Vance County Schools – Hydro-Stacker at Dabney Elementary
Students at Dabney Elementary School have been enjoying studying plants and flowers that have been growing in small pots or cups included in the school’s new Hydro-Stacker planting and watering system. Their studies have been led by fifth-grade teacher Susan Hughes, who secured a grant from the N.C. Farm Bureau and the Vance County Farm Bureau in the spring to purchase the Hydro-Stacker. NC SAT Scores Show Improvement in 2014
North Carolina’s 2014 seniors posted an average SAT college admission score of 1483, up four points overall from the Class of 2013’s average score, according to the 2014 SAT results released today by The College Board. The national average is 1497 on the Critical Reading, Math and Writing tests that comprise the SAT. North Carolina’s critical reading score (499) surpassed the nation’s reading score (497). I-440 Ramp Closure at Poole Road for Fortify Project Rescheduled for this Weekend
RALEIGH – Construction crews on the Fortify Project plan to close the ramp from Poole Road onto I-440 West in Raleigh this weekend, as well as the outside lane of westbound Poole Road in the same area.
