Butterfield Votes Against Bill Threatening North Carolina’s Unemployed and Healthcare Providers

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC-01) today voted against H.R. 3630, the so-called Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act, which, among other things, would block a major cut to physicians’ Medicare reimbursement rates, reduce the number of weeks laid-off workers can receive unemployment benefits, and impose new restrictions on unemployed Americans seeking unemployment benefits.  Although the bill is expected to fail in the Senate, Butterfield said the bill would drop 180,505 North Carolinians from receiving long-term …

The Culinary Arts program at Vance-Granville Community College continued a holiday tradition by holding its third annual Gingerbread House competition on Dec. 2. Vance-Granville Community College hosted admissions representatives from four-year colleges and universities on Dec. 1 in Building 6 on its main campus. The event was VGCC’s annual College Day, in which students obtain important information about transfer requirements, financial aid and scholarships that can help them continue their education.
