Vance man accused of break-in at Ventures Housing

A patrolling Henderson police officer noticed something suspicious at a mobile home sales lot on Raleigh Road early Wednesday, and his actions led to a Vance County man’s felony arrest after a K-9 search.

Gary Dean Talley, 48, of 1419 Peter Gill Road was jailed in lieu of a secured $10,000 bond on a charge of felonious breaking and entering after the investigation at Ventures Housing at 421 Raleigh Road, according to a news release from Police Chief Glen Allen.

Officer T.W. Long got credit for the arrest after noticing a white pickup truck parked between the display housing units on the Raleigh Road lot at 1:46 a.m. Wednesday. Long reported the suspicious activity, and backup officers were dispatched to the scene.

Officers checked the lot and found that one display unit had been broken into and had suffered about $200 in damage.

Officer D.A. Diogo and K-9 Okar helped find Talley, who was quickly taken into custody.
