March state school board meeting highlights
At the March Board meeting, members approved revision of the K-5 Mathematics Standard Course of Study, adoption of a Praxis II test for licensure in Latin, staff recommendations regarding program approval exemption requests under the Innovative Education Initiatives Act as well as school-based calendar waivers for educational purposes, and its 2008-09 Supplemental Budget request.

Special Good Friday blood drive

HPD incidents and arrests
Arrests – Jonathan Phillip Durham, of 705 E. Andrews Avenue, was arrested for contempt of court violations. He was placed in the Vance County Jail under a $4,000 secured bond.

Arrests – Natasha Durham of 721 Berry Street was arrested on March 13, 2008 for assault with a deadly weapon (box cutter). She was placed in the Vance County Jail with a $1,000 secured bond.
