Etheridge supports Haiti donations
Washington, D.C. — Rep. Bob Etheridge, the only N.C. member of the House Ways and Means Committee, supported the unanimous passage of H.R. 4462, a bi-partisan bill to encourage additional donations to help those in need in earthquake-ravaged Haiti.

Chief K.L. Sidwell reports that members of the Henderson Police Department’s Narcotics Unit served a search warrant on the address of 449 Chavasse Avenue in Henderson, North Carolina.
House supports “Early Detection Month” for cancer
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge, the only N.C. member of the House Ways and Means Committee, announced today that the House of Representatives unanimously passed his legislation to support the designation of an ‘Early Detection Month’ for all forms of cancer.

County committee to meet Friday
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ General Government Committee is scheduled to meet on Friday, January 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the office of County Manager Jerry Ayscue to discuss a property tax appeal. The county manager’s office is located at 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina.

VCS committee meetings today
The Vance County Board of Education’s Curriculum Committee will meet today, Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. The board’s Policy Committee will meet on the same date at 12:00 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Administrative Services Center located at 1724 Graham Avenue in Henderson, North Carolina. No agenda was provided for either meeting.
