Board of ed. to approve 2010-11 budget

Perhaps the General Assembly could make it a goal to modernize the Veterans’ Day observance in North Carolina so that it falls on a Friday or a Monday. We don’t think it will diminish the contributions of our soldiers, and a day off in the middle of the week is just too disruptive for the students. Here’s your open line.

County HR committee meets today at 3:00 p.m.
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ Human Resources Committee will meet today, Monday, November 8, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. to discuss health insurance. The meeting will be held in the office of County Manager Jerry Ayscue. Ayscue’s office is located in the County Administration Building, 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina.
EDC loses director through “mutual agreement”
In an email sent to media at 4:51 p.m. this afternoon, Vance County Manager Jerry Ayscue announced that Guido Esselborn is no longer the Economic Development Director of the Henderson-Vance Economic Development Commission.
County to gear up for hydrilla eradication
Paul McKenzie of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension made remarks to the Vance County Board of Commissioners on the hydrilla infestation of Kerr Lake.
