Monday’s open line
The Search and Transition Committee is scheduled to meet today at 4:00 p.m. at the City Hall Conference Room. The Henderson City Council is scheduled to meet at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers. There should be lots to talk about there, so have at.

Public weighs in at County Commission
Six speakers signed up to speak at Monday evenings Vance County Board of Commissioner’s meeting before the 5:45 p.m. deadline. Since the board allots thirty minutes to public comments, each speaker was given five minutes each for comments.
Thursday’s open line
The Public Utilities Committee will meet today at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. The Clean Up Henderson Committee will hold an important seminar at 6:00 p.m. in the County Commission’s chambers in the old courthouse. There will be a presentation by Loree Adams, MSW and Sgt. Keith Garner of the Henderson Police Department on gangs in Henderson. A group from Lee County who have formed a coalition of concerned citizens to fight the gang problem …
Wednesday’s open line
There will be a City Council Priority-Setting Workshop at the City Operations Center beginning at 9:00 a.m. According to a memo circulated by Henderson Mayor Clem Seifert, the meeting will start by identifying what each of the issues are and then separate the issues into four categories: federal, state, county, and city. Completed draft of zoning ordinance presented
About 100 Vance County residents, some sporting orange “no Zoning” stickers, showed up at Monday evening’s Vance County Board of Commissioner’s meeting to protest the county-wide zoning project.
Tuesday’s open line
Today the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet in City Hall Council Chambers at 3:30 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. the Vance County Charter School’s board will meet in special session to hear from parents, presumably over the board’s decision not to renew the contract of its current principal, Carolyn Powell. We’ll be curious to hear about the outcome of the meeting. In any event, the floor is yours.

The Vance County Board of Commissioners will meet this evening at 6:00 p.m. in their chambers in the old courthouse. The Journal Committee is to meet in the Clerk’s Office at City Hall at 11:00 a.m. and the Community Development Commission is scheduled to meet in the City Hall Council Chambers at 12:00 p.m. We feel that it is our duty to remind our readers that a scant seven days (not including today) remain until Valentine’s Day on February 14. …
