Novant Health Franklin Medical Center to close
LOUISBURG, NC – Oct. 7, 2015 – Novant Health Franklin Medical Center announced today that it will cease operations Oct. 16, 2015, following several years of declining utilization. NC Navigator Consortium awarded $2.6 million to enroll consumers in health insurance through the Affordable Care Act
RALEIGH, September 2, 2015 – The NC Navigator Consortium, a group of 14 health care, social service and legal aid organizations, has been awarded $2,610,472 in federal funding to help North Carolina consumers enroll in affordable health insurance plans through the Affordable Care Act during the 2015-2016 open-enrollment period, the second-largest grant in the country for this period. High School students explore health and science at two VGCC campuses
This summer, high school students from across the region attended “Mini-Medical School” camps organized by the Wake Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in partnership with Vance-Granville Community College. The camp was held in June at VGCC’s South Campus, located between Butner and Creedmoor, and in July at the college’s Franklin County Campus, just outside Louisburg. Greenville Getting Results on Worker Wellness
In 2010, the City of Greenville in eastern North Carolina opted to self-insure its 850 employees. The city asked its insurance carrier, Cigna Health Care, to implement a wellness initiative. After offering a $25 incentive encouraging people to participate, just 23 percent of the city’s employees completed a health screening and health risk assessment.
