Vance-Granville Community College has scheduled several occupational healthcare courses to start in September at the college’s Main Campus in Vance County. The Nurse Aide Level I course will be offered on two different schedules. Vance-Granville Community College has scheduled several occupational healthcare courses to start in September at the college’s Warren County Campus in Warrenton. The Nurse Aide Refresher course is scheduled to be held Monday-Thursday, Sept. 2 through Sept. 11, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Melissa Hawkins will serve as the instructor. Vance-Granville Community College hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive on its Main Campus in Vance County on July 25. For only the second time, a VGCC Associate Degree Nursing student, in this case Patricia Bumpass of Oxford, served as coordinator of the blood drive. Considering that it was held on a Friday during the summer — when blood donations typically decrease — Bumpass said that the drive went well. VGCC offers new Medical Coding program
Vance-Granville Community College is introducing a new Medical Coding curriculum certificate program this fall. The program will be scheduled in a uniquely accelerated fashion that allows students to complete the 17-credit-hour certificate over two semesters (August 2014 to May 2015). Six courses are required for the Medical Coding Specialist Certificate: Medical Terminology I and II (OST 141 and 142), Medical Coding, Billing & Insurance (OST 148), Procedure Coding (OST 247), Diagnostic Coding (OST 248) and CPC Certification (OST 249).
