VGCC schedules Health Unit Coordinator training course
Vance-Granville Community College is currently registering students for a Health Unit Coordinator course. The program is scheduled to be offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m., May 6 through Aug. 28. Classes will meet in Building 5 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County, with Tonia Starling as the instructor. VGCC Names 306 to Dean’s List
Vance-Granville Community College has announced that 306 students earned Dean’s List honors for the fall semester that ended in December 2012. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student had to maintain a 3.5 grade-point average and have no grade lower than “B” while carrying at least 12 semester hours, according to VGCC Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs Dr. Angela Ballentine. Advanced Digital Media class at Southern Vance High School Video Contest Request
Students in the Advanced Digital Media class at Southern Vance High School have produced a video that is one of 17 finalists in the Fox50 Lip Dub Contest through the Fox50 television station in Raleigh. Student groups produce their own video, which features students singing to a specific track of music. The video also includes signs, props and more. Local residents are asked to view the video and then cast their vote online for the Southern Vance High School video. …
VGCC adding Pharmacy Technology two-year degree
Vance-Granville Community College is expanding its Pharmacy Technology program by adding a new option for students to earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in the field, providing graduates with the skills necessary to qualify for more employment opportunities. 15 year-old shot, Information Wanted
On April 7, 2013 around 1:14 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the 200 Block of East Rockspring Street, Henderson in reference to a 15 year-old male being shot. Upon arrival, officers found Sandtonio Knott Jr, 15, suffering from a gunshot. EMS transported Mr. Knott to an area hospital for treatment. Mr. Knott is listed in stable condition. VGCC to hold Benefit Golf Tournament on May 7
The 29th annual Vance-Granville Community College Endowment Fund Golf Tournament will be held at the Henderson Country Club on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Last year’s tournament raised a record-high $33,250 from entry fees and from sponsors, adding to the more than $400,000 that has been raised by VGCC tournaments since 1985. Armed Robbery Case: On Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 2:03 A.M., members of the Henderson Police Department responded to the Waffle House, 942 W. Andrews Avenue in response to a report of an armed robbery. Officers found that two suspects armed with firearms entered the store and demanded currency from the cash drawer. Van Brunt retires as Dean at VGCC
Bobby Van Brunt of Henderson recently retired after more than six years as an administrator at Vance-Granville Community College and a total of 19 years of service in higher education. His VGCC colleagues held a retirement reception in his honor on March 21 at the college’s Main Campus. Van Brunt joined VGCC in 2006 as Dean of Applied Technologies and Public Service, later served as Dean of Business and Applied Technologies, and retired as Dean of Special Projects. He also …

Criminal Justice Technology students at Vance-Granville Community College recently conducted a community service project that brightened the Easter holiday for local children.
