The FAIR Committee decided to revisit the issue of unfreezing budgeted and unbudgeted city positions at a meeting held on Monday, April 24.

The Public Works Committee is scheduled to meet at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall. The FAIR Committee is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, immediately preceding the City Council meeting at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. There are a large number of public hearing scheduled for tonight, including an ordinance for the city to enforce some of its codes in the ETJ. Medicare drug benefit sign-up slow
Washington, D.C. – Congressman G. K. Butterfield said that slow enrollment figures for the new Medicare prescription drug program show the need to give people more time to enroll.
Fund balance, city salaries, grow
City Manager Jerry Moss annouced at Wednesday’s FAIR Committee meeting that he anticipated the city’s unrestricted fund balance growing to $443,110.

Now that it looks as if the SRO ball is being batted into the Sheriff’s side of the court, we wonder what they would say if asked if they would be willing to place SROs in the middle schools. City SRO positions may be axed
In a memorandum from City Manager Jerry Moss circulated to members of the FAIR Committee at their meeting on Wednesday, the city manager recommended that the two positions of School Resource Officer be eliminated.
Thursday’s open line
We plan to write more on the topic later, but City Manager Jerry Moss revealed a plan at yesterday’s FAIR Committee meeting to give all city employees a 3% cost-of-living adjustment beginning on May 5. This would be the first pay hike of any kind for city employees in two years. Let your thoughts on that or anything else be known below on our open line.

The Clean Up Henderson Committee had its regular committee meeting today in the conference room of the City of Henderson Operations Center.
Wednesday’s open line
This morning, the Clean Up Henderson Committee will meet in the City Operations Center Conference Room at 8:00 a.m. Later today, there will be a joint Human Resources and FAIR Committee meeing in the City Hall Conference Room at 5:30 p.m. Presumably, this meeting will be to work out the new city manager’s contract. Immediately following, but no later that 7:00 p.m., there will be a Community Development Committee meeting also in the City Hall Conference Room.
