Students in the carpentry and masonry classes at Southern Vance High School, led by Royal Grantham and Ben Arrington, respectively, have received certifications in Core Curriculum and Green Environment through the National Center for Construction Education.

Vance County Schools will pilot its new Access Control System at six schools beginning on Monday, May 16, 2016. The Access Control System involves having all school entrances locked during the school day and requires all visitors to identify themselves at the school’s main entrance before being allowed to enter the building. Jeffrey Allen, the director of student activities and athletics at Vance-Granville Community College, recently received the Laura Thomas Award from the North Carolina Association on Higher Education and Disability (NC AHEAD). The award recognizes an outstanding professional outside of the field of disability services who has demonstrated exemplary support of disability services within a postsecondary academic setting.
