North Carolina attracts record visitor spending
Gov. Pat McCrory announced on Monday that North Carolina tourism generated record visitor spending in 2015 with a total of $21.9 billion, a 2.7 percent increase compared to 2014, which outpaced the national average for growth last year of only 2.1 percent. Arson is the second-leading cause of wildfires in North Carolina over the past 10 years, the N.C. Forest Service says. From 2005 through 2014, North Carolina had 45,609 wildfires, of which 8,461, or 19 percent, were intentionally started.
