Arrests – James Robinson, of 5510 Penrith Drive, Durham, was arrested at Wal-mart for larceny of $94.50 worth of various food items. He was confined in the Vance County Jail under a $300 secured bond.
County planning/environmental committee to meet
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ Planning/Environmental Committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in County Manager Jerry Ayscue’s conference room. No meeting agenda was provided.

Arrests – Xavier Judd, of 111 S. Clark Street, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, and maintaining a vehicle used for keeping and selling a controlled substance. Judd was placed in the Vance County Jail on a $20,000 secured bond.
Etheridge to sponsor school security bill
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington), the only N.C. member of the Homeland Security Committee, today announced that he will introduce a comprehensive bill to improve federal efforts to help schools with their security needs.
State superintendent’s task force to meet

March state school board meeting highlights
At the March Board meeting, members approved revision of the K-5 Mathematics Standard Course of Study, adoption of a Praxis II test for licensure in Latin, staff recommendations regarding program approval exemption requests under the Innovative Education Initiatives Act as well as school-based calendar waivers for educational purposes, and its 2008-09 Supplemental Budget request.
