Arrests – Rachel Judkins, of 3519 Jacksontown Road, was charged with driving while license revoked, child restraint violation, and fictitious registration plate. She was issued a citation and released.
Zeb Vance Ruritan fish fry April 7
The Zeb Vance Ruritan Club will be sponsoring a fish fry at the 220 Seafood Restaurant on Monday, April 7, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The cost is $6 per plate, which includes trout, fries, slaw, and hush puppies. Eat-ins get free drinks. Proceeds from the fish fry will benefit club projects.

Arrest made for shooting
Arrests – Jammee D. Terry, of 615 Vaughan Street, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Terry shot Amitarshus Southerland in the leg. Terry was confined in the Vance County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond.
Counterfeiting operation busted
Henderson Police Chief K.L. Sidwell reported Friday that members of his department’s Narcotics Unit and Criminal Investigations Division, along with assistance from the US Secret Service executed a search warrant on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the residence of 231 Southside Estates, Henderson, NC 27537.
42 batteries stolen from warehouse
Arrests – Quentin Yarborough, of 810 High Street, was arrested for resisting, delaying, and obstructing an officer. He was confined to the Vance County Jail under an $800 secured bond.

Once again, discussions about recruiting and retaining quality teachers totally avoid the obvious solution: pay them more money for what already they do. Instead, they want to add Saturdays and after-school activities to the workweek and offer teachers mileage to the extra training sessions, something most professionals already have and take for granted. Heck, when I was a record store flunky I got mileage for picking up special orders at the warehouse.
