We just got back from yet another trip to the emergency room, this time for one of the Little Editors. She’s fine, thank you for asking, but we are suffering from a whole lot of sleep deprivation.

Although we have yet been unable to verify if a selection has been made for principal at Eaton-Johnson Middle School, interim or otherwise, we will say this: years of service at at a middle school are like dog years, and the twenty-eight years we spent at Henderson Middle School should earn us a spot in doggie heaven. Apparently it has something to do with hormones, and brain chemistry… With that, we give you the open line.

On December 11, officers of the Henderson Police Department responded at 619 Farrar Avenue to a report of a man with a gun.
State board approves core course framework
The State Board of Education yesterday approved a proposed core course of study framework that will guide high school course requirements beginning in 2008-09. Current seventh graders would be the first students potentiallyaffected by this change. At Thursday’s Henderson-Vance Economic Partnership meeting, one of the members wished for a “reset button”. His reason? Even though we all have our differences, he said, that’s not a reason not to be civil. Are Hendersonians basically uncivil, or simply impassioned? In a close game, our Southern Vance Raiders lost to Shelby 27 – 24 in regulation play in the AA State Championship.

To the editor: Curfew fines must go to schools
In the 12-7-06 local paper, the Curfew Committee was reported as discussing that offenders will pay fines for violations.
NC school crime and violence report released
During last school year, North Carolina public schools reported 10,959 acts of crime and violence among the state’s almost 1.4 million students, according to the 2005-06 Report on School Crime and Violence presented to State Board of Education members yesterday.
New HPD chief named
New Henderson Police Chief Keith L. Sidwell Late this afternoon Henderson City Manager Jerry Moss announced the appointment of Mr. Keith L. Sidwell, a native of Virginia, as Henderson’s new Chief of Police.
