15 year-old shot, Information Wanted
On April 7, 2013 around 1:14 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the 200 Block of East Rockspring Street, Henderson in reference to a 15 year-old male being shot. Upon arrival, officers found Sandtonio Knott Jr, 15, suffering from a gunshot. EMS transported Mr. Knott to an area hospital for treatment. Mr. Knott is listed in stable condition. VGCC to hold Benefit Golf Tournament on May 7
The 29th annual Vance-Granville Community College Endowment Fund Golf Tournament will be held at the Henderson Country Club on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Last year’s tournament raised a record-high $33,250 from entry fees and from sponsors, adding to the more than $400,000 that has been raised by VGCC tournaments since 1985. The 16th Full Frame Documentary Film Festival begins Thursday at various locations in downtown Durham and runs through April 7. Bodie Island Lighthouse to open to public
The Bodie Island Lighthouse will open to the public on April 19 for the first time following a three-year, $5 million restoration. The opening has drawn national attention from lighthouse enthusiasts, said Bruce Roberts, board member and co-founder of the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society. Van Brunt retires as Dean at VGCC
Bobby Van Brunt of Henderson recently retired after more than six years as an administrator at Vance-Granville Community College and a total of 19 years of service in higher education. His VGCC colleagues held a retirement reception in his honor on March 21 at the college’s Main Campus.
