VGCC earns high marks in annual N.C. Community Colleges report card
Vance-Granville Community College continued to excel by a variety of measures during the 2009-2010 academic year, according to this year’s Critical Success Factors report, which was recently released by the N.C. Community College System office. VGCC’s scores equaled or surpassed seven out of the eight state standards. VGCC Trustees take oaths, elect officers
The Vance-Granville Community College Board of Trustees held its regular bimonthly meeting on Monday, July 18 at the college’s Henderson campus. Chief District Court Judge Daniel F. Finch administered oaths of office to three members. Ronald R. Alligood was sworn in as the newest member of the Board. Alligood is a retired Director of Butner Public Safety. He recently completed 18 years of service on the Granville County Board of Commissioners, and was appointed by the county commissioners to replace …

Warren County area residents are invited to learn more about Vance-Granville Community College’s basic skills/literacy classes at an Open House on Saturday, Aug. 6. Members of the Vance-Granville Community College “Chi Beta Chi” chapter of the Phi Beta Lambda business student organization recently attended PBL’s 2011 National Leadership Conference. Henderson Middle School Sixth-Grade Orientation
Henderson Middle School administrators and faculty members will be conducting their Sixth-Grade Academy orientation sessions on Monday, August 8, and Tuesday, August 9, at the school. The Fall 2011 semester at Vance-Granville Community College begins Tuesday, Aug. 16, but college officials advise students to apply and register for classes as early as possible. New students may apply for admission at any time. The Vance County Board of Education has appointed Ronald E. Gregory as the next Superintendent of Schools for the Vance County Public School System. Gregory has been serving as the Interim Superintendent of the school system since May 1. He will be sworn into office by District Court Judge J. High School Testing Schedule
The adminstration of semester exams and state end-of-course tests at high schools in the Vance County Public School System begins next week. The testing will begin at Northern and Southern Vance high schools on Tuesday, May 31, and continue through Wednesday, June 1, with students taking their semester exams and Occupational Course of Studies tests. State Budget Cuts Affects Local Schools
Officials with Vance County Schools and members of the Vance County Board of Education are bracing for a 2011-2012 fiscal year that is likely to include drastic cuts in funding, particularly at the state level.
