The Henderson Police Department, the Vance County Sheriff’s Office, and Chick-fil-A of Henderson will be holding their annual Cops on Top fundraiser on Friday, September 16, 2011, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Chick-fil-A on Dabney Drive .  This fundraiser is to raise money for the Special Olympics of North Carolina. Ocracoke Reopens For Visitors Wednesday

Ocracoke will be open for business again at 5 p.m. today (Wednesday), when visitors and other nonresidents will be allowed to return to the island.  Access is available by ferry across the Pamlico Sound from Cedar Island and Swan Quarter.  The short ferry to Ocracoke from Hatteras, normally the state’s busiest route, is closed while NCDOT repairs storm damage to N.C. 12 on Hatteras Island.
