Reporter – Leigh Hester The City of Henderson has instituted new bidding policies in hopes of keeping local contractors better informed of upcoming projects. Although in the past the city has followed North Carolina guidelines, city council members have expressed concerns about notification procedures for bidding upcoming projects. Reporter – Leigh Hester – After a three year wait, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has deposited grant funds into the City of Henderson’s escrow account for the demolition of the Beacon Light apartment complex. Henderson Police May Lose Sworn Officer Positions

In less than two years, 24 police officers have left the City force to work in cities with higher pay grades. Henderson City Manager Unveils Budget Shortfalls
May 9, 2011 – Reporter: Leigh Hester Due to decreasing revenues and rising city costs in fuels and employee health insurance, the City Manager is preparing a proposed budget for the City Council’s review. This “Survival Budget,” as he called it, would potentially raise water rates by 5% and corresponding sewer rates by 5% as well.
